Florida Collectibles Show was Held at Historic Sunken Gardens in 2005

The Florida Collectibles & Vintage Memorabilia Show was held on Sunday, April 24th, 2005 from 10am to 5pm at the historic Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Florida Gulf Coast's only show and sale of vintage Florida collectibles and memorabilia, this unique event had something for every type of collector interested in vintage Floridiana, from old roadside attraction kitsch to premier Florida décor. Exhibitors sold items such as: vintage Florida souvenirs and jewelry; coconut lamps; Florida ephemera including postcards, maps and books; the tinted photographic art of Barnhill and Harris; old cigar industry paraphernalia, and much more. Several of the best-known experts in the field exhibited, including Larry Roberts, well-known author of Florida's Golden Age of Souvenirs: 1890-1930.

An added attraction at the show, New York filmmaker Sara Dionne provided a sneak-peak preview of her documentary film “Once a Mermaid…Tails of Weeki Wachee,” including archival footage recounting the history of Weeki Wachee and the mermaid shows. Several of Weeki Wachee's former mermaids were in attendance. Contribution for attending the fundraising film preview is suggested to support Dionne's completion of this fascinating film “tail”.
